Writers of the Future Contest

Description
Limited Demographic: writers who have not published a novel, more than one novelette, or more than three short stories, paid at least 8 cents/word with at least 5000 copies/hits.

Note: the pay rate of "Unknown" is not a mistake. Writers of the Future publishes some finalists which do not get the listed prize money, though they don't mention this in their guidelines. They pay something for these, but that pay rate is not specified in their guidelines, so "Unknown" pay is the result. These terms are not clear from the guidelines. The non-standard contract flag is based on information winners have posted about the contract terms.

Note: former winners are ineligible.

The L. Ron Hubbard Writers of the Future Contest is an ongoing competition designed to discover new and amateur writers of science fiction and fantasy, present certificates of merit when earned and award monetary prizes to the winners. All types of science fiction, fantasy and dark fantasy are welcome.

Read the contract terms carefully for non-standard terms that may affect an author keeping control of their own work, such as transfer of copyright, lack of time-based reversion of rights clause, or editing pieces without the authors approval.
