A language variety (or lect) is a derivation of a parent language that can include localized languages, dialects, creoles, pidgins, and other emergent branches. English is perhaps the world's first true Lingua Franca, and its imperial history/current versatility has led to varieties all over the world. The Pinch wants to recognize and publicize poetic forms that challenge and celebrate the place of contemporary English language poetry.
