We are looking for poetry and creative non-fiction that has something to say about the rural experience. We want to avoid romanticising the rural, but at the same time, we don’t want the rural experience to be all about pig sh*t and visits to the Slaughtered Lamb.
Subjects that particularly interest us (not an exhaustive list)
Exploring the liminality (the in-between places) of semi wild spaces within the urban Nature, all of it The real rural experience: what is it like living out in the sticks? Farming Landscape and the psychogeography of landscape, how the landscape you live in shapes you as a person. Rural culture, events, traditions The personal within the rural experience
Creative non-fiction writers: we don’t want journalistic articles or op eds, we want prose that uses creativity to explore the subjects that you, and our readers might be interested in. Take something usual and make it unusual.
