The magazine is named for the ancient Armenian god of writing, Tir (or Dir). In Pagan Armenian mythology, Tir was the bookkeeper to the gods, tracking and recording humanity, bestowing power to artisans and writers, and guiding souls to the underworld. He was commonly depicted with a large triangular hat, which is referenced in our magazine’s logo.
