Frustrated with the lack of butch4butch representation, and noticing a growing desire for it from readers and fellow authors alike, Phoenix and I decided to take it upon ourselves and put together a collection celebrating butch4butch, stud4stud, and masc4masc desire. And while we look forward to receiving work depicting those pairings, the thing that makes me so excited about this anthology is the fact that we’re leaving a wide brim to give those who want to contribute, the freedom and flexibility to do so, however they align with the prompt. For example, maybe you’re exploring the burgeoning beginnings of butchness within yourself and would like to submit an erotic story. Maybe you’re a transfem or nonbinary butch and want to share with us self-portraits. Maybe you’re a butch, stud or transmasc with long hair and want to draw art showing how its length has made you feel more desirable and affirmed in your masculinity. Or maybe how having short hair has helped you connect better with sensuality, thus bringing forth your masculinity. Maybe you love to be touched and want to write poetry dedicating how lovely that is. Maybe you prefer others to keep their hands to themselves and want to write a short fiction story on it. Or maybe, you’re simply a fan of butch4butch content and want to contribute something showing your appreciation.

Whatever the case may be, do you see what I’m saying?

Though there’s no formal prompt beyond “butch4butch”, we are going for a historical lesbian zine feel that captures the working-class grit and radical celebration of gnc lesbians seen in the 70s-early aughts publications. Think Set In Stone: Butch on Butch Erotica (2001), Persistent Desire (1994), Dagger On Butch Women (1994), The Little Butch Book (1998), etc.

We are seeking diverse, authentic depictions of butch4butch desire. Submissions, while we welcome erotica, are under no pressure to feature graphic or on page smut. Work that is transgressive, sensual, playful, electric, creative, coy, and suggestive are welcome just as much as explicit. We encourage contributors to interpret “erotic” however you see fit!

Subgenre doesn’t matter. Erotica, pulp horror, dead dove, taboo, romance, western, speculative—as long as it features butch4butch, GET CREATIVE!
