Description
Recent polls suggest modern women want to be with geeks over jocks 9 to 1. We love watching The Big Bang Theory and have always thought the slightly geeky, bespectacled Clark Kent was hotter than when he busted out the spandex Superman suit -- how did you miss that, Lois Lane?! So it's only logical that we give geeks their rightful due and enshrine them in a romance anthology!

Think about your typical romance story and the characters in them. Now throw those character molds out the window.

Give me real people. Not just any people, geeky people. When we think geek, we immediately conjure up someone who is intelligent. This person could possess a general intelligence, or an expertise about a particular topic. Often, they are, for lack of a better word, awkward. Yet irresistibly adorable in their awkwardness. (Oh, wait, is that just me?)

Hit me with your best geeky shot—sci-fi geeks, physics geeks, tech geeks, gamer geeks, band geeks, and everything in between—and tell the tale of their romance. Is your protagonist obsessed with Batman and he falls for someone dressed as Cat-Woman at ComicCon? Or is it the quiet computer programmer who slips secret love messages to her co-worker into her code? Your possibilities are virtually endless.

Keep your story under 10,000 words, and it must be a sweet-to-sexy romance that prominently features a geek (or more than one, because, why not?), culminating in an HEA or HFN. The preference is for a contemporary setting, and it must be written to an adult audience.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, double-check your facts, because geeks know! Your story is a work of fiction, but any references to computers, science, math—in other words, reality—must be true and verifiable.

This listing is permanently closed for submissions. This may mean one of several things:
  • It was always planned to be a limited-time project, such as a one-time anthology, and the limited-time submission window has ended.
  • The publisher has stated that they are permanently closed, or on hiatus with wording that makes it sound permanent.
  • The publication website is down in a way that appears to be permanent, and we haven't been able to find a new website for them.
  • The publication website is not down, but it appears to have been inactive for more than a year.
