Storm Cellar is a national literary arts magazine with a special emphasis on the Midwest. We want your best stories (including flash), creative nonfiction, poems, and ideas penned on envelopes in buses and train cars. The magazine is eclectic, aiming to publish amazing work by new and established writers and artists, representing a range of styles and approaches, and generally be as un-boring as it can. If you write one thing to be read while waiting for the all-clear to sound, send it here.
Something unique, something weird (whatever that means); something that taps into universal human experience, or absolutely refuses to. Remember that exposition is not action, that the reader can think for herself, that a great idea demands great execution. We prefer you cut to the chase, or sink our battleship with beautiful sentences. We write too, and want to die a little of jealousy over your short stories.
